New Pattern: the Turia Dunagrees!

Here it is, the new pattern! I’m so happy to present the Turia dungarees!
new-pattern-turia-dunagrees-sewing-2Dungarees (or overalls as you wish!) for a grownup? Really? Well YES of course!
The Turia dungarees pattern feature front and back patch pockets, sides zippers and adjustables straps. It also comes in two length: the slightly tapered and cropped ankle length will accompany you from summer to winter made in gabardine or corduroy and layered, and the more payful short version is ideal for the warmer months (or why not wear it with tights?).

The Turia dungarees are quite easy to make, you’ll even learn how to make beautiful and sturdy flat-fell seams. Easy to fit as well with the adjustable straps and straight leg slightly tapered at the ankle, it’s comfortable and yet stylish. Just pair them with sandals during the day or some heels for a night out.
They can be made in a great variety of fabrics: from light to medium weight wovens such as cotton, linen, gabardine, chambray and denim, corduroy, twill…

I hope you’ll love this pattern as much as I do. It’s inspired by dungarees my mom gave me years ago, she wore them in her 20’s and I’m still wearing them… What can I say? I’m a sentimental!

so much fun!!! if i was trendy and bold in my fashion choices, i would be buying this right now and taking the day off to sew them 🙂 although, thinking about it, these would make perfect lounge/work wear in my new summer house! if anything, i am tempted to make them because i can just see how fun they would be to make!! i love how you really design patterns that are different, with nice detailing, and that offers a bit of a challenge to sew!

Thanks Joelle! They are good for casual wear, I've been wearing mine around the house almost all summer and as a bikini cover 😉
Well, you know me, might as well learn something new while making a new garment: this time is flat-fell seams!

Oh wow, overalls! I loved wearing these as a kid. I'd love to try them out, but I'm quite short, and I worry that people might think I got lost on my way to the playground…so tempted though!

Don't worry, I'm only 1,55 m myself and I don't think anyone thought I was a kid 😉

I love it! Overalls are my favorite summer attire for gardening, and any other active pursuit where I don't want to worry about bending over and exposing my backside. Plus it's nice not to have anything tight around your waist.

Even if I don't have a garden, I agree with you Claire, they are so comfy!

I LOVE this new pattern – especially the short version. Need to have the baby weight off for next summer so I can have my own!

Thanks Nat! You know what? My mom wore the original version (the one that inspired this pattern) when she was pregnant with me. So could even make a variation and wear it now 😉

Oh my gosh, I am /so/ in love with this pattern! I never thought I would want to wear dungarees but you have totally changed my mind, definitely going to try this one out. I particularly love the short version, may I ask where you got the fabric from?

Reply
Pauline Alice 18 August, 2014 - 5:40 pm

Thanks Linda. I got the short version fabric at my local fabric shop, it's a denim with just a little bit of stretch, very comfortable.

Bit late to the party here, but I've made a muslin and the dungarees come up too short in the body for me – the straps barely make it over my shoulders at the front! I can't work out from the pattern pieces where would be best to make the alterations so would appreciate any advice! Thank you 🙂
